Description
One of my favorite, must-have Joomla extensions is eXtplorer, a file management application for Joomla. It makes uploading multiple images and files very easy. If you are working with multiple documents and images then creating folders is a great way manage similar files. The instruction below shows you how to create a new folder in eXtplorer to store similar files.
Step By Step
1) Login to the backend of your website.
2) Click Components from the menu.
3) Click eXtplorer.
4) To create a folder at the root of your website, click on the root folder which is located on the left side of your screen under the Directory Tree.
5) Click the New File /Directory button as shown below:

If you're creating a folder to store images, it's a good idea to create your folder as a subdirectory of the images/stories directory as this is the default directory Joomla looks at when you're inserting images in a document.
When you click the New File/Directory button the following window displays:

5) In the Name field, type the name of your folder.
6) In the Type field dropdown box, select Directory.
7) Click the Create button to create your folder.
You should see your new folder under the Directory Tree. Repeat the steps above if you want to create more folders.
8) Click "Back To Joomla" link to exit eXtplorer.
